Collection: Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec
Ronan (born 1971) and Erwan (born 1976) Bouroullec are highly acclaimed French brothers who have been collaborating as a design duo since 1999, establishing Studio Bouroullec in Paris.
Ronan began working independently after graduating from the École Nationale des Arts Décoratifs, with Erwan, then still a student at École des Beaux-Arts, assisting him. Their joint career truly took off after their "Disintegrated Kitchen" was exhibited at the Salon du Meuble in Paris in 1997, catching the attention of Giulio Cappellini, which led to a significant and ongoing collaboration.
The Bouroullecs are known for their incredibly diverse body of work, spanning everything from small everyday objects and jewelry to furniture, lighting, textiles, and even architectural projects and urban installations. They defy easy categorization, blending elements of art, architecture, and industrial design.
Their design philosophy often focuses on modularity, flexibility, and a poetic yet practical approach. They are celebrated for creating systems that allow for user interaction and adaptation, and for their innovative use of materials. Notable collaborations include major brands like Vitra (e.g., the "Joyn" office system, "Alcove" sofa, "Vegetal" chair, "Algue" modules), Cappellini, Magis, HAY, Kvadrat, and Flos.
Their work has been widely exhibited in museums globally, including MoMA in New York and the Centre Pompidou in Paris, and they have received numerous prestigious awards throughout their careers, cementing their status as leading figures in contemporary design
