Collection: Artek

Artek is a Finnish furniture company founded in 1935 by architect Alvar Aalto, his wife Aino Aalto, art patron Maire Gullichsen, and art historian Nils-Gustav Hahl.

The name "Artek" combines "art" and "technology," reflecting their mission to merge these concepts to promote a modern culture of living. While primarily established to market and produce the Aaltos' innovative furniture (especially Alvar's bent wood designs like the Paimio Chair and Stool 60), Artek also served as a cultural platform. It organized art exhibitions and championed modernism, acting as a gateway for international culture in Finland.

Today, Artek continues to produce classic Aalto designs and collaborates with contemporary designers, maintaining its commitment to clarity, functionality, and poetic simplicity in design. It is now part of the Vitra Group.
