Collection: Raw-Edges

Raw-Edges is the acclaimed London-based design studio founded in 2007 by Israeli designers Shay Alkalay (born 1971) and Yael Mer (born 1976). The duo met and later married after studying at the Royal College of Art in London, where they both earned their degrees in 2007.

Their journey as a collaborative force began even before officially establishing Raw-Edges. Their "Disintegrated Kitchen" project caught the eye of design titan Giulio Cappellini in 1997, kickstarting a series of significant partnerships.

Raw-Edges is distinguished by its playful, inquisitive, and experimental approach to design. They often explore how everyday objects can be transformed through manipulation of materials, colors, patterns, and movement. Their work frequently blurs the boundaries between product design, furniture, installations, and art. They aim to create designs that are not only functional but also evoke emotion and surprise.

Their portfolio is incredibly diverse, encompassing collaborations with major international brands across various sectors. Some of their most notable partners include Vitra, Louis Vuitton (for their "Objets Nomades" collection), Kvadrat, Magis, HAY, Moroso, and Stella McCartney.

Raw-Edges has received numerous prestigious awards throughout their career, and their designs are part of the permanent collections of leading museums worldwide, including MoMA in New York and the Vitra Design Museum. They continue to be celebrated for their unique blend of inventiveness, meticulous research, and a fresh, often childlike curiosity in their approach to design.
